Characteristics and performance of FRP pultruded profiles

FRP pultruded profiles have the following characteristics and are mostly used for mechanical structural parts, insulating parts, high-frequency stress parts and other functional structural parts.

1. FRP pultruded profiles have good dimensional stability
The thermosetting resin matrix is cross-linked by heat during processing to form a body-shaped network structure, and its products have good dimensional stability under normal conditions, and the post-shrinkage after molding is also small. Under the long-term continuous load, the shape and size of the product change very little, that is, the creep property is small. Its creep performance depends on the size of the load, the temperature and the length of loading time and other factors. Under fixed load and temperature conditions, thermoset plastics have much less creep than thermoplastics after long-term loading. 2. FRP pultruded profiles have excellent heat resistance and high temperature resistance
The thermosetting resin-based composite material cannot be softened after curing, and its heat resistance is quite stable. It is measured by a load of 1.86MPa. Generally, its heat distortion temperature is within 150-260°C, and fiber-reinforced thermosetting plastics are excellent thermal insulation. Materials, whose thermal conductivity is generally 0.35~0.47W/(m.K), only 1/100 to 1/1000 of that of metal, can be used as good heat insulation material and instant high temperature resistant material, and the heat deformation temperature of the material can reach 350°C, can be used as room temperature and high temperature structural materials. Glass fiber/phenolic is an excellent thermal insulation material for rocket and missile engines.

 

3. FRP pultruded profiles have excellent electrical properties
Composite materials are excellent electrical insulating materials. If the products made of mica as filler have better electrical properties, they can be used to manufacture special parts with superior arc resistance, voltage resistance, and inductive electrical properties. Due to the excellent electrical properties of composite materials, its products do not have electrochemical corrosion and stray current corrosion, and can be widely used in the manufacture of insulating parts in instruments, motors and electrical appliances to improve the reliability of electrical equipment and prolong their service life . In addition, the product has good dielectric properties and microwave permeability under the action of high frequency, and has been used to manufacture various high-frequency insulation products such as radomes.

 

4. FRP pultruded profiles have excellent corrosion resistance
The electrochemical corrosion mechanism of resin-based composite materials is different from that of ordinary steel. It is non-conductive and does not dissolve ions in the dielectric solution, so it has good chemical stability to the atmosphere, water and general concentrations of acids, alkalis, salts and other media. Good stability, especially in non-oxidizing strong acids and mediums with a wide range of pH values. because
Therefore, it is widely used in the manufacture of corrosion-resistant products for the corrosion of certain media (such as hydrochloric acid, chlorine, carbon dioxide, dilute sulfuric acid, sodium hypochlorite and sulfur dioxide, etc.) that stainless steel cannot deal with, and has played a good role.

 

5. FRP pultruded profiles have good surface properties
When composite materials are in contact with chemical media, there is generally little corrosion and scaling on the surface, so they are often used to manufacture fluid pipes. The internal resistance of the pipes is small, the friction coefficient is low, and a lot of power is saved. Because composite materials generally do not easily generate metal ions to contaminate media like metals, this is why composite products are widely used in the food and pharmaceutical industries. In addition, the composite material has a very high friction (pv) limit value. Under the condition of water lubrication, its friction coefficient is very small, about 0.01-0.03, so it is also the preferred material for wear-resistant products.
