Applications of Pultruded Fiberglass Tubes

Jan 16, 2023

Pultruded fiberglass tubing has unique properties that make it suitable for a wide range of applications.

Pultruded Fiberglass Tubes in various diameters is used in radomes, tool handles (e.g., snow shovels, paint rollers, mops and brooms, lawn and garden tools), tree trimmers, professional maintenance tools, railing systems, telescoping tools, and flag poles.

Square and rectangular tubes are commonly used in insulators, rail cross arms, spacers, framing, structural supports and decking.

Due to its affordability, light weight, ease of handling, versatility, strength, durability and long service life, pultruded fiberglass tubing has been widely used in many industries:

  • Construction and Infrastructure: Commonly used in outdoor construction projects because they will not rot, rust, corrode or splinter. They can be easily cut and shaped using simple tools, and the low maintenance requirements often reduce the cost of ownership. They can be found in bridge components, corrosion-resistant guardrails, radomes, railway cross arms and highway sound barriers.
  • Utilities and Telecommunications: Pultruded fiberglass tubing is durable and non-conductive, as well as non-magnetic and electromagnetically transparent, making it ideal for utility poles, cross arms and line markers, wire and trunking, waste and water treatment components , non-conductive ladder rails and fiber optic cabling.
  • Tool Manufacturing: Because of its safety, versatility, and reliability, FRP can be used to create ergonomic shapes for a variety of hand-held tools or equipment. Since it is non-conductive, it is often used to protect the end user from hot or live parts.
  • Sports, Recreation, and Outdoor Equipment: Pultruded fiberglass tubing is used in outdoor equipment that needs to withstand severe wear and tear. For example, outdoor furniture made from FRP can be exposed to moisture, sunlight, and heat for extended periods of time.

Meanwhile, pultruded fiberglass tubing is often incorporated into sports equipment that needs to be light, strong, and reliable (e.g., golf clubs, hockey sticks, sailing equipment, paddles, ski poles).
